Hobart II (Misty Morning Photoshoot)

Yesterday morning I was walking Hobart and I thought, "this would be a perfect day for a photoshoot." There was a thick fog and it gave a nice touch! So I grabbed my camera, some treats, and took Hobart out to get some photos! Here are the results!

Puppy Raising (2nd time around)

I am AMAZED that I have the privilege of raising Hobart II, puppy #2!!!  I've enjoyed it a lot, but it's a whole lot different than raising number one! I've had to try to stay fully inspired (one of the reasons being that I haven't gotten the chance to go to as many puppy classes.) I still have wonderful friends and I'm really trying hard to do well. Hobart has been fairly easy and has learned everything he needs to learn! I have been super busy so training sessions are short, but daily. I've found myself getting distracted and letting the puppy wander off! But then I remember how much I really love doing what I'm doing and it gives me more hope!

Puppy raising in worth the time! Hobart is fairly easy to work with so it's up to me to make sure he turns out right! I'm trying to adjust to his learning style and learning speed, but it's still a work in progress! I do feel more confident that I know what I'm doing, though!

3 months old, Dembre AT report, Blog Award, Etc!!!!!

My life is insane!!!!!!!!!!!
My family was in a pretty major car accident and though everyone is alive there has been a lot of recovery! I have been very busy with school and then two days a go a hurt a disk in my back and can hardly walk! I've gone to the chiropractor and am starting to recover, but I'm not fully functional.

Hobart turned 3 months old!!!!! I don't have enough room to do the official three for three, but I'll say this! I LOVE that puppy! He's smart! He's sweet! He's Cute! What more could you want! I've had him for over a month now!

We received Dembre's 2nd official AT report. The only negative thing she said about him was that he mounted another dog in the play yard! I'm surprised, but not completely dismayed, because Adrena said she wasn't concerned! I am SO proud of my boy! over 6 weeks since we turned him in! I have such high hopes! Dembre is working on retrieve, hold, get, and push!!! To my amazement she didn't check the box for excitable greetings, but instead checked the box for CALM! Dembre calm! If you've read my blog for awhile you know that's not one of the qualities I thought Dembre had! And his kennel mate Ansel (anselcci.blogspot.com) is still in as well!

it's in spanish!

We received the 'Bright Flashes in the Blue Sky Award' from Spark and Madison. Thanks so much for that we are so honored! I will award other blogs this wonderful award soon!

Hobart's Training

I have learned a lot already raising Hobart. He is a smart little cookie and he picks up on things very fast! I have to make sure he's not outsmarting me! He's also a little cocky! I have to correct fairly hard to get him to respect me. He likes to explore! If I look away he will be off wondering around doing as he wants! But then again he's really sweet! I got to go to puppy class with him for the first time last night. He did well. There were twenty other dogs so he wasn't interested in obeying at first, but then he did really well. I was reminded by a PR friend that I need to enjoy this stage as much as possible and not try to overwhelm him with to many commands. When I first got Dembre I completely overwhelmed him with command drill and it didn't help a bit. Hobart is learning quickly, but he still has a chance to develop at a fairly normal rate. A basic command a week and correction for inappropriate behaviors makes for a pretty nice pup!

He is a wonderful little pup and I am so excited that I get the privilege of raising him!

Then & Now

Dembre is 4 months in less than one week. WOW! He was 14lbs. when we got him exactly 2 months ago. Now he is 33lbs.. My little boy now knows these commands: Sit, Down, Shake, Let's go, Here, Kennel, Wait, and is learning: Visit, Up, Lap, Side, and Heel. How can it be that my little boy is growing up? Here are two pictures. (The first is from 2 months ago, the second was taken today)

Dembre Update

Dembre is now 30.5 lbs. I'm sorry I don't have any pictures. I'm getting a new camera...... a Canon Powershot A590IS. I was hoping to get a Canon EOS Rebel T2i, but it didn't work out. I love photography, but I'm still adjusting to black dogs. CCI just sent out a message saying that they want good CCI cape pictures. I guess I'll probably be sending some in, but they'll most likely be of yellow puppies from class.

Just Plain Puppy

I guess I have to realize that Dembre is still young. For years I have done work with rescue dogs and I had to train inapropriate behaviors out of the dog, where as in Dembre's case I just need to take it a little easier and shape his original personality into the type that will fit CCI's standard. He is learning, but a little more slowly than I would like.

And More Cape Pictures...

Here are the rest of the photos from Dembre's recent cape shoot!

Puppy Class Pictures :)

Dembre had puppy class last night and he did very well. He maintained a good down for about
a half hour. His sit was great and I cradled him for about 10 minutes, which was good for him. Sadly we had to go before puppy playtime. There are three other young puppies in the group, Dembre being the oldest. Juanita (YLGX), Jones (YLGX Juanita's sibling), and Heartman (YLGX). Jones and Juanita are just to cute! I got some pictures of Mr. Dembre at class.
